Drive has developed an exciting and innovative employment training
service for people with disabilities.
The service is known as the Drive Future Skills Project. The individual
sites that make up this project are as follows:
Maes Newydd, Aberdare
This site consists of a garden centre providing employment training in
horticulture and customer care for up to 18 people. Also on this site is a pottery and ceramics workshop providing
employment training for 8 people. In
addition, there is also a café, which provides employment training for 4 people
in catering and customer care. The site
is fully open to customers.
Talygarn, Pontyclun
Drive has run a horticultural project on this site for more than 17
years. The project is located within
the grounds of the former Talygarn Miners Rehabilitation Hospital and provides
employment training for up to 16 people.
Woodwork Project, Treforest
Drive has worked in partnership with the Rhondda Cynon Taff County
Borough Council on this project for the past 4 years. The site provides employment training in woodwork for up to 12
people.
Drive would wish to recognise the help
of Objective 1 funding and also the Rhondda Cynon Taff
Borough Council for both the support and encouragement in the development of these
initiatives.
