Drive is a innovative person-centred Welsh organisation dedicated to supporting people with disabilities to have fulfilled lives. We were formed in 1983 as a charitable company operating in the Rhondda district of Mid-Glamorgan by a group of local business people and social entrepreneurs. We employ around 550 staff and provide services to over 250 people, with an annual turnover approaching 11 million. We challenge inequality of opportunity and lack of choice. We work to bring a positive change to people's lives,
We are a not-for-profit company with charitable status, directing our resources towards improving and maintaining our services. We work with many partners, including families, carers, social services, health services, registered landlords and multi-disciplinary teams. Participation is a major theme of Drive and we look to people with learning disabilities to help us improve what we do.
We aim to provide high quality support services designed to meet individual needs, enabling people to maximise their independence and live dignified and fulfilling lives.
Drive promotes Person Centred Approaches, this enables people to think about what they want from their lives, and implement processes to achieve their goals. Drive's services are designed, developed and delivered in order to provide opportunities for people to achieve competencies in the following key areas:- Community Presence, Choice, Competence, Dignity and Respect and Community Participation.
Drive is now responding to issues arising from the Citizen Directed Support agenda, and the need for support to be economically, environmentally and ethically sustainable. We strive to provide person centred services which will fully meet the need of the people we support.
